Meet Mr Mohamed Mohyudin

Training & Qualifications

Mr Mohamed Mohyudin graduated from the University of Leeds Medical School in 2009 (MBChB). He subsequently underwent extensive, rigorous ophthalmic specialist training, culminating in his Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).

Setting him apart in his field, Mr Mohyudin is double fellowship trained. He completed highly competitive specialist fellowships in both Paediatric Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics (eyelid and periocular surgery). This dual expertise allows him to manage complex cases that span both functional and aesthetic domains.

Clinical Experience

Since 2020, Mr Mohyudin has held a Substantive Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon post at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. In his NHS practice, he routinely handles complex surgical cases and manages busy clinical lists.

In private practice, he consults at Spire Elland Hospital and is a Partner at Newmedica (Bradford & Huddersfield). Across these settings, he has amassed an exceptional surgical track record, including over 5,000 cataract surgeries, thousands of eyelid procedures, and more than 500 squint corrections.

Mr Mohyudin is the appointed Royal College of Ophthalmologists College Tutor at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, reflecting his standing in postgraduate ophthalmic education. He has a strong commitment to medical education and research, contributing to the teaching of ophthalmic surgical trainees and to audit and quality improvement projects focused on cataract surgical outcomes and paediatric orthoptic services.

He is medical editor and reviewer of Eye Health Guide (eyehealthguide.org), a public-interest website for clinically reviewed eye-health information in English, Spanish and Bahasa Indonesia. Humanitarian eye surgery — World Aid Network

Alongside his NHS and private lists in Yorkshire, Mr Mohyudin performs humanitarian cataract surgery in Karachi and Islamabad, Pakistan, for World Aid Network, a UK Charitable Incorporated Organisation funding sight-restoring eye surgery, cancer treatment and emergency disaster relief in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia.

He advises the charity’s eye-surgery programme — which operations are worth funding, what a partner hospital needs to deliver them safely, and how outcomes are judged — and operates on funded cataract lists in Karachi and Islamabad. The Pakistan eye-surgery programme funds complete cataract operations (surgeon, intraocular lens, consumables and follow-up) at accredited partner hospitals.
